With Macintosh turning 30 this year , you'd think Apple would go big. Maybe they'd spring for another Super Bowl commercial like the 1984 ad that changed the way the world thinks about computers. Nah… they just made an Apple promo reel that was shot entirely on iPhones—with a little help, of course

It might surprise you to learn, then, that your teachers got one of these stories (partially) correct

While the news of four out of the five highest-paid execs in the US being from Apple isn't entirely surprising, it's hard not to marvel at their collective success. Which leads to the question, "Who are these gazillionaires? And what does it look like when you blend all of their faces together?" We're so glad you asked.

It's been a scant six months since the announcement of the iPad Mini and the fairly superfluous iPad 4 , but it looks like the new generations might be on the horizon. Walmart, Best Buy, and MacMall have all slashed their prices on the devices , as good a sign as any that new ones are on the way. The trio of retailers cut prices by roughly 30 percent on Wednesday, and these "clearance" sales are a pretty good rule of thumb indicator that something new is on the way soon.

If you think you're having a rough morning after your New Year's festivities, an Apple Store in Paris' opera district is still trying to determine just how much hardware was stolen after four or five armed thieves robbed the store three hours after it had closed. The local police aren't confirming the exact amount that was stolen, but The Telegraph claims there are reports that the thieves made off with over one million euros, or $1.32 million, worth of goods. The robbery was particularly brazen given extra police and security personnel had been called in to keep the peace during the city's New Year's Eve celebrations.

Nokia Maps (officially titled "Here") is a potential godsend for anyone fed up with Apple's subpar offering. It's blazingly fast, routes via public transportation with ease, and doesn't mix up Manhattan with Siberia. Unfortunately, it's bogglingly hard on the eyes.
